On September 22, we organized a wonderful workshop with Mariëtte Verhoeven, the Embassy Science Fellow. Specialists from diverse backgrounds gathered to discuss and formulate solutions to raise awareness of Istanbul's water issues by engaging with its heritage.
The discussions were held in the Dutch Consulate and were focused on the Valens Aqueduct (Bozdoğan Kemeri) and how to make the people more engaged with this heritage. After all the wonderful pitches from the participants, we had round table discussions to formulate solutions. Amongst the participants, were people that focused on gamification, app creators, educational workers, landscape researchers, and heritage management professionals. We then presented our solutions to each other, to together find similarities and differences. The final outcomes of this workshop will turn into a report that focuses on an integrated model for increasing public awareness and preserving Istanbul's water heritage.
