New developments in science-based applications in archaeology make it possible for researchers to draw refined interpretations about how daily lives were organized in ancient societies. This workshop aims to bring together researchers specialized in new or improved methods on ancient DNA, bioarchaeology, lipid analyses, ancient fingerprints, and isotopes to discuss and understand what interpretations can be drawn from using such science-based methodologies. Utilizing diverse micro and macro scale analytical techniques, studies presented in this workshop provide fresh perspectives on who the Barcın Höyük people were, how they lived and organized labor and their space, and finally, how they dealt with death. This workshop provides us with a new insight into the Neolithic lifeways of the Barcın Höyük communities through time and helps us expand our understanding of the Neolithization of Northwest Anatolia.
